UNITAR BAC. OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (Hons)

Introduction

The Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) programme is aimed at equiping students with the skills and knowledge relevant in the business and management fields. Its flexible structure makes it possible for students to pursue their area of interest besides taking the required University courses, all of which are tailored to produce excellent business graduates who can easily adapt to the the rapidly expanding and challenging business world.

The students will also have the option to take courses in specialised areas of Finance, Accounting, Marketing and Human Resource Management. In addition, the programme has been accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA / LAN) since 2001. It is also recognised by the Public Services Department of Malaysia (JPA).

Entry Requirements

- A pass in STPM with 2 principals and at least a pass in Mathematics at SPM/SPMV/'O'Level; or
- 'A' Levels, Matriculation, Foundation or Pre-university; or
- Diploma from a Public or Private Higher Education Institution with a minimum standard required by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA / LAN) or has been granted (MQA / LAN) accreditation or an equivalent qualification which is recognised by the Malaysian Government or relevant professional bodies; or
- Certificate from a Polytechnic under the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.

English Proficiency Requirement

Malaysian Students

Students who enroll into UNITAR Bachelor's Degree programmes must fulfill the following English proficiency requirements:

Students with a credit in the English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are required to take additional English courses, depending on the level of proficiency. Students who do not have a credit in the English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are required to undergo the Intensive English Programme.

Students with a distinction in the English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are not required to take additional English courses.

Additional charges will be imposed based on the English placement level, in addition to the respective programme fees.

Intensive English Programme

International Students

International students who enrol into UNITAR programmes must fulfil the following English proficiency requirements:

Undergraduate Programmes - TOEFL score of 450 or IELTS band of 4 The validity period for TOEFL and IELTS is two (2) years from the date of the award.

Without the qualification mentioned above, International students are required to register for and pass a special Intensive English Programme (IEP). This programme will incur additional charges apart from the respective programme fees.

Programme Structure

This programme requires a total of 110 credit hours. Students are required to take courses in General Studies, Business Communication, Economics, Management, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Statistics and Management Information Systems. They are also required to choose and complete courses in one major area specialisation and to undergo a three-month business internship/training programme. The list of the core courses as follows:

Area of Specialisation

The programme has four major areas of specialisation: Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Accounting. Students are required to complete four courses within the area of specialisation of their choice. The following are the objectives and requirements for each area of specialisation:

Finance

The main objective is to prepare graduates for finance-related positions in both the public and private sectors. These type of positions require in-depth knowledge of business management, finance and a strong foundation in analytical and communication skills. Graduates may also find career opportunities in the banking and insurance industry. Students in this field of specialisation are required to complete the following courses:

- Corporate Finance
- Investment Analysis
- Malaysian Taxation
- Financial Markets and Institutions

Accounting

This area of specialisation aims to produce graduates with a sound business knowledge and skills. They will also be technically proficient in the fields of accounting. Although it is not designed to meet the standards pursued by professional accounting qualifications, the courses offered through this specialisation will prepare the students to pursue other professional courses. Students in this specialisation are required to complete the following four courses:

- Advanced Financial Accounting
- Advances Management Accounting
- Auditing
- Malaysian Taxation

Marketing

The main objective is to develop potential business leaders and managers who will rise in their careers and be able to manage commercial activities in the industrial, consumer service, or product organisations in a competitive and challenging global economy. Students in this field of specialisation will be able to understand marketing disciplines in both the traditional and electronic environment. Graduates in this specialisation of Marketing will be qualified to work as Marketing Executives in MSC-status companies, companies engaging in e-commerce (dotcoms) and knowledge-based companies. Students in this specialisation are required to complete the following four courses:

- Consumer Behaviour
- Marketing Communication
- Channel Management
- Consumer Relationship Management

Human Resources Management

This area of specialisation aims to provide students with adequate exposure to the roles and responsibilities of managing the most important asset in any organisation – its employees or human resources. The field of human resource management deals not only with the relationships of people in the workplace but also with the process of making sense of what people want from their work, what organisations want from their people and getting the best possible match between these two sets of needs. Graduates with this specialisation will be able to hold positions as Human Resource Executives in a wide range of profit and non-profit organisations. Students in this specialisation are required to complete the following four courses:

- Labour Law & Industrial Relations
- Human Resource Management

Syarat-syarat Kelayakan :

1) Seorang warganegara Malaysia

2) Telah mencapai umur 21 Tahun

3) Bermastautin di bahagian pilihan raya yang ingin didaftarkan

4) Tidak dihalang/hilang kelayakan oleh undang-undang yang berkuatkuasa

Kaedah Pendaftaran :

1) Pendaftaran statik seperti di kaunter Ibu Pejabat SPR, Pejabat-pejabat Pilihan Raya Negeri atau Pejabat Pos Berkomputer.

2) Pendaftaran Bergerak sepert Out-Reach Team SPR, Penolong Pendaftar (Parti Politik) atau Penolong Pendaftar di Pejabat-pejabat Kerajaan yang dilantik oleh SPR.
